Now available: a full DVD video of the recent 1916 Centennial Pageant and Music Presentation, performed at Saint Cornelius Catholic Church in Long Beach, California on April 24th, 2016....the exact date, 100 years to the day the Rising began in Ireland.

Written by Hon. Consul General of Ireland, Finbar Hill and Dr. Phillip OʼCarroll. Presented by Hon. Consul General of Ireland, Finbar Hill and Regional Bishop David OʼConnell. Produced and Directed by Ken OʼMalley.

The event included the Rebellion Pageant, a con-celebrated mass by Bishop OʼConnell and several local Irish priests and was followed by a reception on the church grounds for the over 850 people who attended.

The drama included Irish actors Karen Ryan, Jenn Mahoney, Peggy Miley, Kevin Kearns and Welsh American Tim Byron Owen, who delivered interspersed dramatic performances throughout the narration delivered by Dr. Phillip OʼCarroll, who brought the audience, through his delivery, to the streets of Dublin during that fateful Easter week 1916.

The Rev. Donal Burke OFM Cap, carried us through the week, day by day, by reading from the diary of Fr. Aloysius Travers who was on hand during the fighting and the aftermath, helping with the physical and spiritual needs of the wounded Irish rebels and administering to the some of the leaders right before their executions. He was also the liaison during the surrender period.

Musical contributions included songs performed by Ken OʼMalley and Jenn Mahoney along with support from the An Chor Gaelach choir from the Celtic Arts Center in Hollywood.

Traditional Irish music played throughout the event by trio Patrick DʼArcy, Kira Ott and Jimmy Murphy, and the dramatic event was opened and closed by the beautiful performance of beautiful local Irish dancer Megan Kirk, playing the role of Roisin Dubh, Irelandʼs Dark Rosaleen, the old name secretly spoken by Irelandʼs people during a time when discussing Ireland in public was considered a crime.

The DVD is available for the purchase price of $20.00, including shipping and handling, and is being released at the request of many of the people who attended the event, to keep as a memento.
